Founded in 2001, the Solertia Institute is a non-profit aiming to help accelerate broad-based sustainable advancement of marginalised communities and countries through appropriate innovative concepts and initiatives.

Solertia is undertaking the following three programs as well as other initiatives:

  • Integrated Community Development: A model programme developed by the Institute adapted and applied to responsive marginalised communities and regions as a means of accelerating social and economic development.
  • Community Development Gateway (CDG): The CDG is to help secure unhindered Internet access for everyone, through a variety of local ‘community development web portals’ and other means.
  • Development Information Resource (DIR): Under development, the DIR initiative is a global – local open knowledge database system comprised of location and context relevant knowledge and information. An implementation of the Integrated Community Development Program, “Helping to Build Capable Communities,” is underway in the municipality of San Juan Mixtepec in the Mixteca Region of Oaxaca, Mexico, linking to kinship communities in Northern Mexico and the United States of America.

Solertia works through and promotes partnerships, formal and informal, with other organisations or individuals from the public sector, civil society and private sector.

The website provdes details of these programmes along with a resource section containing relevant articles and background reading on Solertia’s philosophy and approach.
