The Institute aims at free and creative enquiry into the fundamental themes and problems of life and thought. It is a centre for research and encourages promotion of creative thought by providing an environment suitable for academic research.

The Institute pursues a diverse set of ongoing research projects at any given time, focussing on subjects in:

  • Indian culture
  • comparative religion
  • social and natural sciences

The Institute has worked with a number of academic organisations, and has recently begun attracting visiting scholars and professors to give lectures and seminars at the Institute. Facilities for advanced consultations and collaboration besides library and documentation facilities are also provided.
