The IUSSP/IHDP Population Environment Research Network is non-profit, academic and web-based information source on current population and environment research worldwide. The Network aims to stimulate greater communication about, and the advancement of, methodologies and approaches to population -environment research by (1) maintaining an up-to-date, on-line and searchable database of electronically available literature, (2) circulating regulate updates on the population-environment research field and (3) hosting occasional cyber-seminars. The target audiences are institutions and individual researchers around the world from disciplines including demography, geography, anthropology, history, political science, ecology, biology, environmental studies, as well as all others interested or actively involved in population and environment research.
The network is sponsored by the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP) and the International Human Dimensions of Global Change Programme (IHDP) with technical support provided by the Socioeconomic Data and Applications Center (SEDAC) at the Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN) of Columbia University and funding from the John D and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.
