The Climate Change Adaptation in Africa (CCAA) research and capacity development programme supports African countries in their efforts to adapt to the impacts of climate change.The CCAA is a component of IDRC’s Rural Poverty and Environment (RPE) programme initiative.
The main objectives of CCAA are:
- to strengthen the capacity of African scientists, organizations, decision makers and others to contribute to adaptation to climate change;
- to support adaptation by rural and urban people through action research;
- to generate a better shared understanding of the findings of scientists and research institutes on climate variability and change; and
- to inform policy processes with good quality science-based knowledge.
The activities carried out focus on three areas:
- communications and networking
- education and training
- participatory action research
