The Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Environment and Development (CISED) aims to promote environmentally sound and socially just development by contributing critically and constructively to public and academic debates. Its mandate is to work on issues at the interface of environment and development through rigorous interdisciplinary research, teaching, research networking and dialoguing with civil society.

The Centre focuses its research on four areas, which include:

  • Institutions and Democratic Decentralisation
  • Science, Technology and Society
