XCEPT seeks to better understand the drivers of conflict and inform effective policy and programme responses.

Over the last 10 years, conflicts in the Middle East, Africa and Asia have stalled development and eroded governance, economic and social structures, creating the conditions for violence and serious organised crime to flourish. Violence exacerbates political and cultural tensions, pushes vulnerable communities into poverty, destroys lives and livelihoods, and accelerates climate change. To reverse this deadly trend, we must understand the underlying drivers of cross-border conflict so they can be addressed by governments and NGOs.

XCEPT is a research programme that brings together world-leading conflict research experts to respond to this challenge.
