Statistical data from the World Bank group is offered online, in print and on CDROM. It includes:
(a) Country statistics: WWW site offers access to databases and pre-prepared tables. Offers free online access to ers access to country data. he profiles cover the 207 countries (183 World Bank members and 24 other economies with populations of more than 30,000) and 18 country groups reported on in the World Development Indicators book, CD-ROM and the World Bank Atlas
(b) World Development Indicators, published annually by the World Bank, is a collection of statistical data and commentary. Chapters focus on people, economy, environment, states and markets, and global links. Available as a print volume: offers some 800 indicators in 87 tables. Replaces the World Tables series. WWW site has most of the text from the book and samples of the tables from each section.. WWW version offers free online access to Data Query, which gives a segment of the World Development Indicators (WDI) database, an extensive collection of data about development. This segment includes 54 timeseries indicators for 207 countries and 18 groups, spanning 5 years. Users can choose several ways of displaying the data: index, percentage change, and graphs, and can export the result in standard formats.
(d) CDROM: World Development Indicators CD-ROM contains over 550 time-series indicators for 207 countries and 18 country groups, covering 1960 to date, and offers mapping, charting and data export formats. The Tables function presents more than 5 sets of country tables, covering specialized topics such as social indicators, economic indicators, education, and population projections. In addition, it provides the full contents of the WDI book, and some quick reference tables on GNI per capita, country classification etc. Replaces the World Data CDROM which contained some of the same data.
