Aims to facilitate the transfer, from North to South, of environmentally sound technologies (ESTs) which address urban and freshwater problems. Main objective is “to build the partnerships necessary to assist Governments in addressing environmental problems threatening urban quality of life and freshwater resources.” Supported by two Japanese institutions: the Global Environment Centre Foundation (GEC), specialised in urban problems, and the International Lake Environment Committee Foundation (ILEC) whose expertise lies in the management of freshwater resources. Current work includes: survey of existing information systems and sources on available green technologies; survey of technologies used to artificially increase freshwater resources; sound waste management in cities of developing countries (including an international inventory of available information sources on environmentally sound technologies used for municipal solid waste management)

WWW site includes: information on IETC programmes, articles from newsletter, directories of EST organisations/information sources/technologies. Plans to include full text reports on technologies and management of urban and lake/reservoir environments.
