The Population Council in Egypt, a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization, seeks to improve the well-being and reproductive health of current and future generations and to help achieve a humane, equitable, and sustainable balance between people and resources. Staff members are engaged in capacity-building and research on locally defined population issues. Council researchers collaborate with governmental agencies, nongovernmental organizations, researchers, and the media to advance knowledge and address important population and development issues. The Cairo office is the regional center for West Asia and North Africa and nurtures networks of national, regional, and international scholars.
