The Latin American Center for Competitiveness and Sustainable Development (CLACDS) was established in 1996 to conduct research on changes promoting sustainable development and competitiveness in the Latin American region.
During the first four years of its existence, CLACDS’ work focused on the Central American Agenda for the 21st Century, which relates to competitiveness and development of Central America and its integration into the global economy. Since the presentation of this agenda, the Centre has widened its research areas to cover:
- rural development
- SMEs (Small and medium enterprises)
- digital technology and development
- free trade agreements
Further details about the Center and its activities are available from the dual language (Spanish and English) website. Selected documents, mostly in Spanish, are available to download. The website also includes links to news relating to competitiveness issues in the region.
