Since its inception in 1954, under the name of the East African Management Forum, the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) has been a member organisation which aims to enhance management knowledge and practice in both the public and private sector. It is a Membership-based Management and Business Development non- profit making organisation, has acted as a prime catalyst in the effective transfer of Management thought, knowledge and practice to all sectors of the East African economy in general, and Kenyan in particular. The Institute is one of only two private national management development institutes in Sub-Saharan Africa. It has a membership of more than 2,500 individual members and about 250 corporate members.

The Institute has well established formal and informal links with major management institutions and is presently assisted by the British and German governments in specified areas. KIM’s vision is that effective management is an essential prerequisite for social and economic development in Kenya, and as a national Institute it seeks to make an effective contribution to the development of management.

KIM’s Business School offers Management Education Programmes aimed at providing high quality management education programmes to eligible individuals who wish to advance their career and obtain certificates and higher qualifications in management, in areas such as business management, marketing, human resources management, public relations management, health care management, and computer applications.
