Democracywatch is a development and educational institution that works to promote and strengthen democracy and good governance by creating awareness about rights and values through research, training and advocacy. The research and social survey unit of Democracywatch conducts surveys and opinion polls on various social-political aspects in Bangladesh. These include:

  • women’s representation in the government
  • pre-election surveys
  • government primary education
  • law and order

One of the organization’s main activities is education and awareness building of young adults and women. It provides language, computer and management courses. Democracywatch also provides a training course for journalists to help in reporting the human rights situation in Bangladesh. The organization has a unit that monitors the reported incidence of human rights violation and publishes quarterly reports.
