Multidisciplinary university of seven faculties. In 2003 BUESPA was joined with the former University of Horticulture with its three faculties. Integrating various workplaces, however, is not new to the university: Budapest University of Economic Sciences joined with the College of Public Administration in 1999, thus creating BUESPA, or Budapest University of Economic Sciences and Public Administration.
The University has approximately 17,000 students and issues about half of the total economics and business diplomas in Hungary. It has established programs not only in Hungarian, but also in English, German and French. Each year it organizes one or two major international conferences as well as several smaller events.
In 1991 the IKU Innovation Research Centre was founded as part of the University, aiming to shape innovation policy through research and education and, within this, to improve international competitiveness. IKU also disseminates the scientific research findings among academic, business-economic and government decision-makers in Hungary and abroad.
The institute’s research can be classified in three groups:
- science and technology policies (S&T Policy)
- measurement of R&D and innovation
- examination of the strengths and weaknesses of innovation
The University’s and research center’s website is in both Hungarian and English and includes details of the research programs. Information on the publications and conferences webpages, however, are rather limited.
