The Centre for Educational Research and Development (CERD) is a research unit within the Institute for Social Research in Zagreb that carries out fundamental and applied research on education.
The work program of CERD covers all aspects of the educational system and its regulative mechanisms, namely:
- organisation of the educational system
- national curriculum (teaching plans, textbooks etc.)
- learning strategies and teaching procedures, development and application of the new educational technology
- internal and external assessment of educational achievements
- improvement of higher education
- development of educational models for teachers
- models of education for educational specialists
- system management
- financing of education
- educational laws.
CERD has three basic activities:
- scientific research: fundamental and applied
- education: postgraduate studies, summer school, seminars and other forms of education, as well as training of teachers and specialists in the field of education
- publishing of the research results.
CERD is the Croatian country node of the virtual network for cooperation in the field of education “South East European Educational Cooperation Network”. This network had been founded in order to make the communication easier and offers useful information in the field of education.
