Slovenian governmental research institute whose main tasks are in line with the needs of the Government and its Ministries. They include:
- monitoring, analysing and evaluating current trends and projecting long-term economic, social and environmental development
- short- and medium-term macroeconomic forecasts (they are prepared twice a year in mid-April and mid- October)
- analyses serving as a basis for short-term guidelines and strategic orientations of economic and development policies
- research.
The Institute also issues several of its own publications, many of which are downloadable for free in English through the IMAD’s website. The monthly Slovenian Economic Mirror presents current economic trends. The Spring and Autumn Reports bring a more detailed analysis of economic trends and explains the IMAD’s macro-economic forecasts. The Development Report evaluates development performance and capability for sustainable development, as set out in the Strategy for the Economic Development of Slovenia. The Human Development Report monitors the human and social quality of development. The “IB revija” publishes methodology and research articles dealing with sustainable development. Since 1997, the fully international Journal for Institutional Innovation, Development and Transition (JIIDT) has been published once a year. Working Papers bring results of detailed research made by the IMAD’s staff. The book series Analysis, Research and Development is published occasionally with extensive studies and strategies.
