Autonomous international NGO based in Instanbul, Turkey, founded right after the UN Human Rights World Conference held in Vienna, 1993. The aim of WWHR is to promote recognition and implementation of women’s human rights, and incentive the active participation of women in society and processes of social change as free individuals and equal citizens. WWHR engages in advocacy and lobbying for women’s human rights at national, regional and international levels, and their agenda focuses on:
- The Women’s Human Rights Training Program
- Reform of the Turkish Penal Code
- Creation of a regional solidarity network focused on the issue of women, sexuality and social change in Muslim societies
- Supporting women’s grassroots organizations and networks
