The International Center for Sustainable Human Development (CIDH) is an education and research organisation that focuses on sustainable human development, with an emphasis on Central America. CIDH facilitates analysis on the sustainable human development paradigm, creates undergraduate and graduate interdisciplinary academic programs on sustainable human development, and aims to create a documentation center on sustainable human development.

Recent CIDH research projects include:
- economic, social and labour asymmetries in Central America and their policy implications
- economic, social, political-institutional and environmental integration in Central America: a win-win situation
- economic, social and political disparities at the regional level in Costa Rica.
The Institutes also hosts the Center for Labor Studies (CLS) which conducts applied research and policy discussions on issues such as:
- employability
- labour standards
- labour conditions
- social security
- gender
- labour democracy.
In addition to research, CIDH offers three study abroad programs for international and Costa Rican undergraduate and graduate students related to sustainable human development.
