Thusanang is one of SANGONeT’s information services projects offering information on funding and fundraising for non-profit organisations (NPOs) and grantmakers. It also seeks to facilitate capacity-building for financial sustainability.
Thusanang’s mission is to:
- develop and provide on-line up-to-date, leading-edge news, information and research on funding and fundraising
- support NPOs in their quest for financial sustainability through building funding and fundraising knowledge, and providing and assisting them with advice, training and contacts
- create a platform for NPOs and grantmakers to profile their work and to share experiences and views
- facilitate the use of information communication technology (ICT) in fundraising
- build partnerships with and encourage partnerships between funding and fundraising organisations in Southern Africa
Thusanang focuses on South Africa, but aims to broaden its scope to Southern Africa in the future.
The website currently provides a noticeboard and collection of articles and capacity building tools on fundraising. They hope to offer a subscription database of funding organisations shortly.
