The “Dr. Hideyo Noguchi” Regional Research Center (CIR), University of Yucatan conducts research in social sciences, health and biomedical sciences. The Center is organized into two main divisions:
- Biomedical Sciences Unit
- Social Sciences Unit

- gender and justice
- history and society
CIR also undertakes research into tropical diseases, and is a reference center for studies related to human retroviruses, such as HIV/AIDS.
