Network for Norwegian NGOs actively promoting environment and development issues.
It is a national focal point on international negotiations to follow up Agenda 21 from the Earth Summit in Rio in 1992.
ForUM brokers contact between Norwegian organisations, the authorities, media, institutions and other stakeholder groups working on environment and development questions, nationally and internationally.
Its main objectives:
- To mobilise NGOs and other stakeholder groups to participate in processes initiated by Agenda 21 as well as influencing decisions to implement this global plan of action
- To influence and monitor national Agenda 21 programmes and policies
- To develop and carry out alternative analysis and information about Agenda 21 and make this available to the public
ForUM’s working groups are an integral part of the network’s operation. Individuals representing various member organisations make joint efforts to develop alternative policies and positions on issues related to Agenda 21. Their different areas of work are defined by the organisation’s own priorities.
