The German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) is Germany’s national foreign policy network. As an independent, non-partisan and non-profit organisation, it takes part in the political decision-making process and promotes the understanding of German foreign policy and international relations.
The aims of the council are to:
- to promote Germany’s position in international relations
- to contribute substantially to the foreign policy debate in Germany
- to advise decision-makers in politics, business and society
- to inform the public about questions on global politics
- to strengthen the foreign policy community in Germany.
