Eesti Pank is the Central Bank of the Republic of Estonia. Its mission is to guarantee price stability in Estonia.
To attain its goal, Eesti Pank:
- participates in Estonian economic policy via implementing independent monetary policy, consulting the government, and performing international co- operation
- is responsible for supervising financial stability via forming the financial sector policy and maintaining reliable and well-functioning payment systems
- arranges cash circulation in Estonia
Economic research at Eesti Pank supports the main functions of the bank. The main research areas are:
- the economic convergence of the countries joining the European Union
- functioning of the Estonian monetary and financial system
- developing the models necessary for monitoring, analysis and forecasting
In addition, topical issues in general economic policy discussions are also reflected in its research activities.
Generally, research is published in the Working Papers Series of Eesti Pank, but also in journals and conference proceedings. The Research Department organises open seminars and co-operates with research departments of other central banks, research institutions and universities.
