CICAT is the central service centre of the Delft University of Technology (DUT) providing its faculties and departments with management support in the field of development cooperation activities. These include long lasting cooperation projects with universities and research organisations in Africa, Asia, Latin-America and, to some extent, in Eastern Europe. CICAT is commissioned by the University Board of DUT to stimulate international cooperation at faculty and departmental level with the aim of strengthening the education and research capabilities of the partner university or research institute. Within a cooperation project CICAT is responsible for management and coordination aspects, while the DUT faculty or department involved is responsible for the scientific input.
Most projects are currently financed by the MHO programme (co-financing programme for Higher Education), which is administered and coordinated by NUFFIC, and financed by the Dutch Ministry for Development Cooperation.
