Institute aiming to to improve the quality of life of mental disabled people and their family/tutors. Activities include the development, exchange and dissemination of research in the field of mental disability in Brazil. Aims to apply an interdisciplinary approach and to allow mentally disabled people, their families and friends to have an active role in research. Particular research areas include:
- health and quality of life
- ageing and disability
- social inclusion
- social assistance, rights and citizenship
- management and institutions.
