Organisation advising non-USA students on study opportunities in the USA.
OSEAS Database is part of NAFSA: the Association of International Educators’ services to international education advisers and administrators outside the United States. Database aims at serving the information needs of educational-exchange professionals outside the U.S., and expanding NAFSA’s base of 6500 universities and individuals in all 50 U.S. states and over 60 other countries into a comprehensive world-wide listing of advisory contacts.
Database seeks to identify and document the primary exchange advisers and program administrators in universities, government and private advisory centers, Fulbright Commissions and USIS Advising Centers, and other exchange institutions. Inclusion in the Database is completely free of charge and without obligation. Membership in NAFSA or OSEAS is not required for inclusion in the Database.
It lists individuals and institutions who are active in educational exchange advising. This allows information on training opportunities, new reference works, conferences, grants, publications, and exchange-support services to be sent directly to the advisers. It also documents the work descriptions, job priorities, program emphases, and current training and resources of advisers by nation, region, and type of institution.
Database inclusion will be of most value to individuals or institutions having U.S. exchange relationships. However, the resources of NAFSA and OSEAS are also useful in supporting exchanges with other countries.
Archived directories of telephone, telefax and e-mail addresses of Database listees are updated regularly in the Inter-L electronic forum maintained by MicroSIG for the NAFSA membership (Inter-L@vtvm1.cc.vt.edu). These directories plus additional OSEAS Database information are also available on-line in MicroSIG’s “International Education Forum” gopher directory (gopher.csc.fi or gopher.colostate.edu). Mailing labels from the Database may be purchased by qualified NAFSA/EAIE members in order to supply catalogues, scholarship details, application forms for overseas students and other materials “of benefit to OSEAS advisers.” [description from service organisers]
