Armenian General Benevolent Union was established in 1906 to preserve and promote the Armenian identity and heritage through educational, cultural and humanitarian programs. AGBU is a non-profit philanthropic organization with local offices in many countries where Armenian Diaspora exists.

The Union’s key activities are:

  • providing primary, secondary and higher education to Armenian youth
  • providing financial assistance to full-time undergraduate students of Armenian descent enrolled in colleges and universities in their countries of residence
  • assisting in the participation of undergraduate and graduate students from around the world in summer internship programs and summer camps
  • editing AGBU Magazine, distributed to 80,000 families, institutions, embassies and government agencies

AGBU’s research and publication program biannually focuses on an Armenian community in a specific region. The AGBU homepage provides access to downloadable forms and also to a database with publications, online bookstore, news and a directory of AGBU centers around the world.
