The Teleki László research institute studies the place and role of Hungary in a broader international context and within the region, analyses the global and Central European social, political, economical and cultural trends and processes.

Operated by the Teleki László Foundation, there are two research units within the Institute: the Centre of Foreign Policy Studies and the Centre of Central European Studies.

Research at the institute:

  • is conducted along research programmes covering the main fields of Hungary’s international relations on the one hand, with special emphasis on Euro-Atlantic integration, and analysing regional processes in Central Europe and Hungary’s bilateral relations to its neighbours on the other
  • is conducted within an interdisciplinary framework using methods of political science, history, sociology, geography and demography.

Helping to promote government activities, the institute’s activities include:

  • preparing medium-term analyses in harmony with the demands of the foreign policy and cultural establishment
  • providing regular forum for high-ranking foreign policy officials and diplomats
  • contributing to the formation of Hungary’s image within Hungary and abroad
  • helping foreign policy analyses and relations
  • participating in the strategic planning activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage
  • offering its database, documentation services and library to experts and students.

The website in english features downloadable publications and working papers in Hungarian devoted to political economics and to the problems of minorities in Hungary.
