The Children’s Institute contributes to policies which promote equity and well-being and fulfil the rights of all children in South Africa, by combining academic excellence and social responsibility.It is involved in research, teaching, technical assistance and support, and advocacy. It produces a number of publications, covering topics such as:

- child poverty
- environment
- trauma and violence.
