Pre-Conference Day-Long Training: “Values in Action: Grantmaking for Social Justice”
Presented by the: Bay Area Justice Funders Network
9:00 – 4:30, The DoubleTree Berkeley Marina Hotel (Mariposa Room)
The last five years have emphasized a need for philanthropy to be different. But how? We know we need structural change, yet the pervasive culture within institutional philanthropy hasn’t been one that centers social movements. In this adapted day-long session of the Harmony Initiative, (a ten-month social justice philanthropy intensive), you’ll have the opportunity to engage with peers in understanding our current philanthropic context, getting grounded in social movement theory and mapping a new paradigm. Join us to improve your grantmaking practice by identifying opportunities for Transition & Transformation, connecting values with justice-centered actions at each stage in the grantmaking cycle.
